Alex comes from a family with a strong history in racing and the automotive industry, so it was no surprise when he began honing his driving skills on a dirt bike at age three. He then began racing quarter midgets at age five and won his first race before even beginning kindergarten.
Alex enjoyed a successful eight-year quarter midget racing career traveling throughout the eastern half of the United States. In his 449 quarter midget main events, Alex finished in the top 3 positions 52% of the time—that equals 233 podium finishes! He set numerous track records and won three track championships, a regional USAC .25 championship, and a national USAC .25 championship.
Alex began racing in the U.S. Legend car series in September of 2012 at the young age of twelve. He won pole awards, hard charger awards, and two feature races. Alex finished 8th place in the Young Lions Division at the 2014 Summer Shootout and 3rd place in the Semi-Pro Division at the 2015 Winter Heat at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Alex finished 7th in the Pro Division at the 2015 Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway despite 3 DNFs due to electrical or motor-related issues. It was his first time competing in the Pro Division and he was the youngest driver in the pro field at 15 years old.
After a season out of the seat and much anticipation, Alex made his debut in a limited late model at Hickory Motor Speedway in August 2016. Alex took to the car and track quite easily and enjoyed the limited late model racing. After racing only a couple times, the AM Racing family-owned and run team was met with challenges in time, labor, and finances resulting in a decision to discontinue racing for a while.
In 2018, Alex returned to his USAC racing roots as he began racing a USAC Speed2/Eastern Midget. In the 13 feature events he ran in 2018 and 2019, Alex finished on the podium four times and set four fast times while having a blast! Due to the limitations to travel and racing that the coronavirus pandemic brought in 2020, along with the challenges of traveling while working full-time jobs and running a business, Alex and the family-owned team decided to take a different direction.
In 2020, Alex and his father started Prodigy Motorsports, LLC and started racing go-karts. For the first time ever in his racing career, Alex began racing asphalt karting circuits. He's enjoying the racing, coaching youth drivers, working on the karts, and learning all aspects of the racing team business including scheduling, transport, providing support to other karters, sales, managing finances, purchasing gear and equipment, and promotion on social media.
The AM Racing team is always looking for marketing partners. If you are interested in partnering with Alex and his family team, please send an inquiry email to 22amracing@gmail.com
